About my drug detox

Our facility is one of the largest and most advanced outpatient drug and alcohol treatment centers in the United States.  Dr. Raul Rodriguez first started to offer outpatient detoxification in his private practice in Boca Raton.  He initially incorporated the techniques he learned for inpatient drug detox in Jackson Memorial Hospital and modified them to meet the needs of the outpatient setting.  The program grew quickly following Dr Rodriguez’s development of a 1-day rapid outpatient opiate detox.  This was the first highly effective, rapid, safe and affordable form of opiate detox to be offered on an outpatient basis.

Protocols were soon developed to safely offer outpatient alcohol detox as well as outpatient benzodiazepine detox.  These treatment options proved their worth almost instantly.  In most cases clients were able to detox more safely and more comfortably than they ever had in the inpatient setting.  In over 10 years of professional practice, no client of Dr Rodriguez has ever experienced a withdrawal seizure while undergoing outpatient alcohol, benzodiazepine or barbiturate detoxification.

Outpatient opiate detox later experienced another major advancement with the approval of buprenorphine, in the forms of Subutex and Suboxone, for the treatment of opiate dependence.  Dr Rodriguez improved on his prior invention with the development of new protocols that allowed for even more rapid patient stabilization, but now with a high degree of comfort.  The use of Subutex and Suboxone forever changed outpatient opiate detox, as well as offering the option for relapse prevention maintenance when clinically appropriate.

Equipped with multiple highly effective options for outpatient drug and alcohol detox, Dr Rodriguez turned his efforts to the psychological aspects of relapse prevention treatment.  He started by offering relapse prevention group therapy based on the medical model of addiction, using cognitive behavioral principles.  This was the first viable option to the 12 steps offered in Palm Beach County that did not contradict any 12-step principles and could be used with or without AA/NA involvement.  Both the program and the clinical team grew, with increasingly specialized group therapy offerings as well as structured clinical programs.  Our facility now offers both a partial hospitalization program and an intensive outpatient program, in addition to the outpatient drug and alcohol detox.
